THE DESIGN FIRM is an innovative Bangalore Architecture practice firm established in October 2005.
TDF specializes in high quality designs for all range and type of projects. Its distinctive Architectural and interior design serves range from design ideas, feasibility studies, construction process and through to completion of projects. TDF combines all aspects of a project from producing concepts, tendering, design managements, construction drawings which embraces functionality to aesthetics, project economics, maximizing space, light and form being in harmony with property’s natural surroundings and professionally manages each project through completion.

ARCHITECTURE & PLANNING

We aim to exceed our client expectations through delivery of solutions for residential, Institutional, Commercial, Mixed use, Public and urban design projects.
TDF provides clients with holistic solutions, through efficient building service consultancy to ensure full potential of the project is realised. We further collaborate with specialist consultants for structural, Electrical, PHE, HVAC, Firefighting, landscape and façade consultancy for successful and quality solutions for entire project.
INTERIOR DESIGN
TDF approaches Interior Design as an architectural challenge. The essence of a fine interior is a well-lit room with a balanced design, rather than a decorated room. Alongside the material dimension, the careful management of natural light is essential to a pleasant, welcoming interior.
Our work includes design for Corporate offices, Retail showrooms, private residences, hospitality and educational facilities.
We render the following detail services:
CONCEPT
Ascertain Client's requirements, examination of site constraints & potential; and preparation of design brief for Client's approval. Preparation of conceptual designs with reference to the requirements given.
DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT STAGE
• Modification of conceptual designs incorporating required changes and preparationof preliminary drawings.
• Preparation of 3D computer generated images (exterior and interior) to explain the intent of the design.
• Scaled physical modelling to explain the intent of the design.
• Preparation of Preliminary Estimate and BOQ for the project upon finalization of design and specifications.
• Preparation of necessary drawings for Client's/ statutory approvals and ensure compliance with codes, standards and legislation.
TENDER STAGE
Preparation of Tender drawings, specifications and schedule of quantities, and tender documents including code of practice covering aspects like mode of measurement, method of payments, quality control procedures on materials & works and other conditions of contract.
Invite reputed contractors to quote and prepare comparative statements of the quotes for rate analysis.Short listing and pre-qualification of contractors/vendors and advice client on the choice of the contractor. Analysis of Bids, participate in negotiations (jointly with client).
CONSTRUCTION STAGE
Prepare and provide drawings for all construction (technical) drawings, design drawings and construction detail drawings Approve samples of various elements and components. Check and approve shop drawings (if any) submitted by the contractor / vendors.
CONSTRUCTION AUDITS
Visit the site of work, at intervals mutually agreed upon, to inspect and evaluate the Construction Works and where necessary clarify any decision, offer interpretation of the drawings/specifications, attend conferences and meetings to ensure that the project proceeds generally in accordance with the conditions of contract and keep the Client informed and render advice on actions, if required.
COMPLETION STAGE
Issue two sets of "As built" drawings including services and structures. As-built drawings shall be submitted as two set of blue prints and in CD, containing all drawings in Auto CAD or equivalent electronic format. Issue Certificate for Virtual Completion of works.

Biography
Krubha Karan, before forming ‘THE DESIGN FIRM’, has worked with Inform Architects pvt.Ltd as a Senior Architect Associate and was involved in various large and small projects ranging from Residential, interiors, commercial, institutional and industrial Projects. He has also worked on a Public library project in Mexico for a competition.
He has travelled extensively to Paris - France and was involved in design, conceptualization and detailing for "LOUIS VUITTON" showroom in Beijing, China. Through this project, he gained an insight into international arena of Architecture.
His design methodology is dynamic, flexible and non-prescriptive. His practice culture is energetic, multifaceted, open minded and one that cultivates a desire for intellectual challenge and problem solving.

SUJIT MURALIDHAR - Founding Partner
Biography
Sujit Muralidhar started The Design Firm in 2005 along with Krubha Karan. Prior to formation of TDF, Sujit worked as a Senior Architect in the office of Dev Bildikar Architects, Bangalore. During his tenure, he was mainly involved in conceptualizing design, execution and project management of several projects for Lucas TVS, Eureka Forbes and numerous residences and apartments.
Upon formation of TDF, Sujit has received several awards for design excellence ranging from all typology of the project. Recently Sujit had been felicitated by DSSA for outstanding performance in the field of architecture.
Through a series of award winning projects, Sujit has created a reputation, as a member of new generation of architects, who combine analysis, experimentation and social responsibility. Sujit’s strength lies in his ability to imagine and communicate sophisticated architectural concepts and is able to extract successful solutions from difficult design problems.
